Monterey 100c Plus: Revision E and Higher Firmware Enhancements

Several new features have been added to the Revision E and higher firmware of the Monterey 100c plus in order to enhance its usability and operation. These enhancements are not covered in the receiver's Installation and Operation Manual. Please read this bulletin carefully and store it with the manual for future reference.

To check the firmware version running on your system, go to MENU 6 and move the cursor to SYSTEM VERSION. The version number will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. The system version for Revision H firmware (P/N 16-6936-1) is: 100C 970915 DE80A. With Revision E and higher firmware, adding a new C-Band satellite is easily accomplished. First, check your satellite guide for the polarity of the first channel of the satellite you wish to add. Then go to MENU 4 and use the arrows to move the cursor to ADD. Depending on the polarity of the first channel, use the arrows to choose either VERT SAT or HORZ SAT. Press Enter. It will take about 10 seconds for the new satellite to be added. All 24 standard C-Band channels will be added, named and numbered.

Go to MENU, scroll to NAME SAT and press ENTER. Select letters/numbers to name the satellite and press MENU when you are done to save the new satellite name. Set satellite position

Setting the position of new satellites has been made easier as well. After a new satellite has been added, go to MENU 5 and use the arrows to move the cursor to LONGITUDE. Press ENTER. Using the numeric keypad, enter the longitude for the new satellite, then press the SETUP key. The new satellite's position is automatically calculated by the receiver. Press SATELLITE and select the new satellite from the menu. Verify the new satellite is correctly positioned. If you need to fine tune the satellite, use the adjustments in MENU 1.

To add a KU Channel to an existing C-Band Satellite that does not have any KU Channels:

Go to MENU 4 and scroll to ADD:

Select VIDEO CHAN using the right or left arrow keys.

Press ENTER. A new channel will be added with the name CHANNEL.

Still in MENU 4, scroll to NAME CHAN: and re-name. Suggestion is KU-1.

Go to MENU 7 and select INPUT B for TUNER.

Press VIEW key and select ENTER for change.

Go to MENU 1 and change NUMBER CHANNEL to 25 or higher.

Scroll to VIDEO FREQ: and enter the KU frequency you want, press ENTER.

Scroll to POLARITY: and enter 101 for Horizontal polarity or 172 for Vertical polarity.

Press the VIEW key and select ENTER to save these changes.

To add more KU Channels to this satellite, select the KU Channel :

Follow the above procedure, but skip the MENU 7 entry as it is now automatically entered.

Hint: After all changes have been made, the new information should be saved into the internal memory of the receiver. To do so, go to Menu 5 and use the arrows to move the cursor to DB, then use the arrows to select SAVE DATABASE Press ENTER twice. The current database will be saved in the receiver's memory.

Several Control Options have been added to the System Setup Menu (Menu 9). These options allow for customized operation of the M100c plus according to the users requirements. All options are factory defaulted to the off position. The best way to determine which ones you like is to activate them individually so you can see the difference.

DIRECT ENTER: ON / OFF
OFF: Dish moves whenever a new position number is entered.
ON: Allows the user to directly enter the east limit, west limit and satellite positions using the numeric keypad without the dish moving. This is very useful if you already know the dish position numbers for the satellites.

LINE WRAP: ON / OFF
OFF: Cursor keeps moving up or down the list of Satellites or Favorites.
ON: Allows the cursor to wrap from top to bottom or bottom to top while in the Satellite Select and Favorite menus.

LAST FAV MENU: ON / OFF
OFF: Pressing the FAVORITE key always takes you to the current satellite favorite group, then groups 1-7.
ON: Allows the user to return to the same group in the Favorite menu from normal viewing mode when the FAVORITE key is pressed. If your last favorite group was MOVIES, the next time you press the favorite key you will go straight to the MOVIES group.

LAST VIDEO SRC: ON / OFF
OFF: Pressing the large UP arrow temporarily selects the audio and video source (external or internal). Goes back to original settings as soon as the satellite or channel are changed.
ON: Pressing the large UP arrow selects the audio and video source (external or internal) then saves the setting when the satellite or channel is changed. This is recommended only during extensive programming of the external source or for experienced users.

AUDIO SCREEN: ON / OFF
OFF: Whenever an audio channel is selected the TV screen is blanked. Changing channels returns you to the video channel.
OFF: Does not blank the channel video when an audio channel is selected. Returns you to the audio channel after changing channels if the audio channel was the last one selected for that channel number.

If you think selecting a satellite using the Satellite Selection menu is too slow, try this! Each satellite is given a two digit number automatically (no, you can't change these numbers). If you know the number of the satellite you want, just press SATELLITE then the two digit number. The two digit designation for each satellite is viewable in the Satellite Selection menu.

Hint: Don't forget that in the Satellite Selection menu you can press the left or right arrows to move a full screen at a time.

You may now select a Single, Daily or Weekly event when setting the event timers. Single runs the event then removes it from memory so the event can be used again. Daily runs the same event every day. Weekly runs the event on the same day of the week, every week. Daily and Weekly events must be erased to prevent them from running at their scheduled time.

• Add Satellite: #106 (0=Horizontal, 1=Vertical) based on polarity of channel 1
• Set Satellite Position: #108 ("sat. name") longitude must be set before using
• Cancel Timer Event: #82 (1-25) #27 returns the events in memory and their number
• Satellite Up / Down: #103 satellite up, #104 satellite down
• Add Channel: #78 (0=Video, 1=Audio) must set channel information after adding
• Name Favorite Groups: #79 (1-7) ("string") with no string, returns the group name
• Load Timer Event: add "S, D, or W" at the end of existing command for single, daily or weekly
• Dish Status: #12 brings back the dish status and position number.
• Home Set: #75 ("sat" "chan" "hour" "min" "min timeout") only way to remove home sat timeout

A global command structure has been added to address all receivers in a single network or a designated group. You may have up to 10 groups of receivers in a single network. Group 0 may have up to 9 receivers, all other groups (1-9) may have up to 10 receivers. You must register your network with Chaparral before the global commands will operate.

• You want to set the clock on all the receivers so they will all have the same time.
• You want to change satellites for a single group of receivers.
• You want to send a message to all viewers on the network or just in a given group.
• All receivers in a group or on the network must be powered on for commands to take effect.
